Christian parents, watch your children!
I was recently informed of a Christian family which was using a teenage babysitter to watch over their younger children. The babysitter was using the time the parents were away to introduce the children to a very hostile antichristian worldview. She told the children they didn't need to believe in Jesus, but that if they were "good people" they would get to Heaven. She claimed the Bible was full of errors. She played Satanic music for them - over and over.
You can imagine the horror of the children's parent when she found out about this from the children. Thankfully, the children felt they could confide in their mom and told her about it. The mother was incensed, as she should be! This wicked teen was attempting to poison the children against their faith! This is as much abuse as if the babysitter had been molesting the children, though in a mental form rather than physical. I told the parent to dismiss the babysitter immediately!
We would like to think that the poeple who come into contact with our kids mean well, but this is not always the case. Some wish to take advantage of them, to turn them against our ideals. Some wish to take out their frustrations against Christians by taking advantage of children or ignorant persons. Jesus said, "Things that cause people to sin will come, but woe to that person through whom they come. It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. So watch yourselves (Luke 17:1-3a)." I shudder to think what might happen to that babysitter if she makes it her life ambition to set herself against the Lord of the universe!
I often tell parents, YOU be the authority; talk to your children about all topics, strangers, sexuality, the messages in music, etc. Your children need to know about warning signs and what is righteous and unrighteous behavior. Thankfully, this parent had been repsonsible and taught these things to her younger children, as well as providing them a feeling of trust and safety to approach with concerns and questions.
Watch out! Satan will attempt to get at your children through a myriad of ways; media, teachers, even babysitters. You need to guard those small minds until they are able to defend themselves.
